Are you planning a robotic surgery?

One of the most significant advancements in medical technology has been the creation of a Robot. Robotic surgery has entered the OT and is rapidly expanding all over the globe. More and more number and variety of surgeries are being done by using a robot as it takes precision surgery to a new level. The surgeries which were considered very challenging are being done more comfortably sing these robots.

Robotic surgery has several advantages over standard surgery. First of all, it is a minimally invasive surgery as the surgery is done by putting small incisions in the body rather than a big incision, this leads to shorter post-operative recovery, less pain, and reduced complications which are caused by post-operative pain.

There are certain areas of the body where access is limited, in those areas Robotic surgery makes life easy as in pelvic surgery.

Because of precision and much better visualization and better-suturing capability more and more complex surgeries can be done Robotically.

At present robotic surgery is limited by the cost of the Robot thus making the surgeries expensive, but as the cost of a robot will decrease with time the surgery will cost less, and ore and ore surgeries can be done using a robot.

In India as well more and more centers are coming up with facilities for robotic surgery. Certain procedures like radical prostate surgery for cancer of the prostate have shown clear advantage when being done with help of the robot. So next time if you need any surgery you must discuss with your doctor the role of a robot in that particular surgery.
